(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

19 November

So we opened last night! And it was terrific!

The audience was massive, the show really came together, and Sharon was thrilled. Afterwards she bounced into the dressing room, kissing everybody, and she specifically told me how wonderful I was.

So I forgive her.

The funny thing is that the audience was very vocal, which I didn't realize at first due to the fact that I am way upstage on one of the platforms for the whole show.

Apparently, during the last hymn of the first act, one of the audience members started singing along, and some of the cast were worried, since we pause for lines at certain points, that she wouldn't know to do that!

During the second act I noticed that they were talking for a reason.

You see, the show is this sort of loose handful of puzzle pieces, all out of order, and whenever something would click together for the audience, they would tell each other about it "It was him! That's why she did that! Mutter mutter mutter!!"

Also, during Sam's thousand year monologue (it's wonderful and he's wonderful, but I'm standing frozen during the whole thing and my feet fall asleep) someone's cell phone started ringing! It rang about nine times, too!

Afterwards, everyone was bitching "Who was that chump with the cell phone in the audience!" and it turned out that it was actually a cast member's phone!

You see, before the show the stage manager collects everyone's wallets and puts them in the booth for safe keeping, and Richard put his phone in the bag, too.

Sam asked him, through gritted teeth, to turn it off next time!

Joaquim Phoenix, interviewed about the evils of eating turkey on Thanksgiving said "I've been a vegetarian for 21 years and every Thanksgiving we've always managed to put something on the table--some kind of tofu or something."

And doesn't it sound delicious the way he describes it? I'll bet that everyone who heard his golden eloquence will eschew having turkey on their Thanksgiving table From This Moment On.
