25 May Okay, so, yesterday I went to the International House of Pancakes (I refuse to call it IHOP) and had me a breakfast sampler and re-read A Wrinkle in Time and came home and threw about thirty people out of Open Pages. Didn't study my lines...
There was just the hugest storm this morning! I was awakened by what I thought was a car crash, but I realized that it was a thunder-clap when the rain started. The thunder was absolutely amazing. The rolls would last for 15-20 seconds. I thought "I guess that barbecue we were planning is off!" but when I got up a few hours later, the rain was completely gone.
The story I didn't tell about Saturday was that after I got home from shopping it was such a lovely day that I just sat in the backyard with a magazine and my boombox and flung open the door so that the kitties could come out, too. Well! They were horrified at the thought! They haven't been outside since I moved, and of course in the old place it wasn't a yard with dirt and grass, it was a tar-paper roof, so they were very suspicious of the whole yard thing. It took half an hour before Milo came outside, then another twenty minutes before Baldrick would put a toe out other door, then Elvis came out maybe ten minutes after that. Monty happily stayed indoors. At one point, the strange black and white kitty, the one that visits through the window over the sink, came into the yard and walked right up behind Baldrick and Elvis. I was tensely ready to break up a fight, but then Baldrick turned around and was just like "O, hi." Then they all started to go into the house together, but I put a stop to that, because I knew that no matter how the other cats accepted the strange black and white kitty, Monty would have hysterics. They were all pretty much staying around my feet, so I relaxed, then glanced up to see Baldrick disappearing up the hill! He had gotten though a place in the fence (gotta get some chicken wire) so I called them in to dinner, and he came back.
Found an absolutely swell journal, Subway Diary. If you start from the beginning, don't be put off by the pussy entry, I wasn't! I thought it was a really interesting view into a man's mind.
