(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

24 May

So yesterday I had rehearsal at 2.30 and I was supposed to be off-book for my monologue.

When did I start learning it? Noon, of course!

I actually did pretty well. I knew large sections, but was confused by the transitions between them, not to mention when I had to say the same thing three times in slightly different ways.

We open in five days. I really must get off book!

The funny thing was, though, on Thursday I was supposed to copy my script for the new Indian Joe, and of course I forgot because I am me, so I said that I'd fax it to him on Friday, and of course I forgot to do that, too, because I am still me.

So before rehearsal yesterday, I ran quick like a little bunny to Staples to copy the damn thing and give it to him at rehearsal, and I walk in and the first words out of his mouth were:

"I'm so sorry! She turned the fax off yesterday and I didn't know that she would! How many times did you try to fax it?"

And I said, magnanimously:
"O, only a couple of times, don't worry about it!"

Phew! I'm the luckiest scatter-brained asshole I know!

After rehearsal I was going to see a flick, but I started shopping and missed the start, so I just got lunch and sat in the sun by the fountain at Rockafeller Centre.

And the shopping I did was at The Body Shop and Coconuts.

I stopped at The Body Shop because it had a big sign in the window advertising new products, so I stumbled in as if hypnotized.

The new products are made of hemp seed oil, which meant that there were a few more college-age slacker boys with backwards baseball caps in the store than usual, but since the line was for very dry skin, I just bought the lip conditioner and the soap, because I can't resist new soaps, as well as the non-hemp Tea Tree Facial Moisture Concentrate, Intensive Treatment (Oily to Normal Hair and Scalp), Bergamot Body Bar, and the old faves Henna Hair Wax, and Hawthorne Hand Cream.

Today I deep conditioned my hair with the Henna Hair Wax, then washed my hair, then decided to use the Intensive Treatment (Oily to Normal Hair and Scalp), which immediately turned my hair to straw. That was a waste of deep conditioning!

Hopefully, they'll let me return it.

At Coconuts I picked up Exile in Guyville, which I am now madly in love with, as well as the Fear and Loathing soundtrack which is fantastic, Christine Lavin's Shining My Flashlight on the Moon, Ani DiFranco's Not a Pretty Girl, and Christine Lavin Presents "On a Winter's Night", which is a compilation of folk love songs by different artists.

Man, I'm really into the chick music as of late, ain't?

But the most important thing I got was the video of the great and glorious Grosse Pointe Blank. I can die happy now...

I have more stories, but it's already 4.15 and I want to go to the House of Pancakes, so later, shugs!
