20 May Can there be no motherfucking happy medium? It was 90º yesterday! It was raining last week fit to beat the band, and now it's egg-frying weather! This summer is going to be a mother, I'll wager, though if things went the way they should, it would be pretty mild, but all this El Niño garbage means that all normal predictions are out the window.
One good thing, though.
In fact, when I got home last night I came in through the main house, and it was noticeably cooler when I went down to my place.
No rehearsal last night, so I spent the evening stuffing lines into my head. It's a 42 page script, and I learned the first eighteen, which sounds pretty impressive until you realize that the dreaded Four Page Monologue starts on page 35. I really am the most dreadful procrastinator!
So yesterday Nik came back from holiday. Nik is head of shipping at The Company That Must Not Be Named, and we're pretty pally, and he was away for two weeks, and before he left I said "Have a great holiday! Bring me a present!" Now, I was just joking, but when I saw him yesterday, he handed me a box, and inside it was a Tasmanian Devil watch that plays the Loony Tunes theme song! I was astonished! It's so cool. Remember the other day when I was talking about meeting Jennifer (who, if she checks out this site from work will be severely beaten) and that "thinking I'm hilarious" is my favourite quality a person can have? Well right on its heels is "bringing me presents"!
When I went to McDonald's yesterday morning, my "regular" status was firmly established, when I was, for the first time at this McDonald's, cut to the front of the line. There was a really good reason, in that lunch was starting and everyone wanted lunch, but I wanted those last breakfast dregs, and she wanted to make sure I got them before they were jettisoned, but still, I felt Very Important!
