11 May So yesterday Chris and I went out to buy me a new TV. You see, my bedroom TV broke about a year ago and I keep meaning to get a new one, so I got Chris, man with a van, to drive me around New Jersey to help me buy one. I found the perfect TV at KMart, RCA, lots of great features, 19" (I was going to get a 13" one, but this had the same features and was only $30 more) so I said "I want that one!" to the none-too-bright-looking employee. They were out of them, but will get more Tuesday. So I said "How about that swell CD boombox over there? I'll take one of those!" They were out of them, but will get more Tuesday.
In frustration, I got Lou Reed's Transformer on CD.
Went home and had pie and ice cream with Cynthia and Fran and we watched The Manchurian Candidate, as Fran had never seen it. I had to admit that, though I had always pretended to have seen it, neither had I. Anyway, it's a fantastic movie, it you've never seen it.
And do you know who's in it? Leslie Parrish! Okay, that may only mean something to Richard Bach fans, but there must be one or two of those who read this page, so this is for you, my well-read readers.
I had never seen Leslie before, and I had always wondered what she was like. You see, Richard Bach wrote one of the most romantic books that I have ever met, about the search for his soul-mate, called A Bridge Across Forever, and that was Leslie.
This seems to be a column of recommendations, but like Helene Hanff's books, and Time and Again, this is one that I really must insist that you read.
Okay, the Planet Amazon column didn't go up yesterday like it was supposed to, but check it today!
