9 May Ahhhhh...the weekend. Last night I went to see the show that Chris directed at LCP, and he did a really nice job. I'll tell you, though, my friend Brian Tracy was in one of the other one-acts, and he gave one of the most extraordinary performances that I've ever seen. Offstage he's sweet, shy and rarely talks, but onstage he tears up the joint. Why this man is not a star, I don't know. He will be.
Another really annoying thing at work is the fact that our new phone number is the old phone number of an insurance company, and we can't seem to get 411 to stop handing out our number to people who want their number, so we get about fifty calls a day for them, and most of the time people don't even pay attention to the company name which is the third word out of my mouth when I answer the phone so they will ask for someone whom I have never heard of, and I have to figure out if they want a new employee, or someone in California or Phoenix, or hey, maybe this guy works at an entirely different company!! My favourite, though, was the guy who, when told that we were not, in fact, the insurance company to which he so desperately wanted to speak, said: "How come you're not them?"
The other day, Annette, who sat next to me in 305 in the old office for something like eight months, said to me: "O, you got your nose pierced!" and I said "Yeah, I did! In 1994!" Some people just don't pay attention...
Anyone else see Cheap Trick on Leno last night? I've been avoiding those Chicago shows, because the audience is so vulgar and the shows are so pandering, but when I heard that they were on, I knew I had so suffer through Jim McMahon and Cindy Crawford's mother and everything to see them. When I was fifteen years old, one of my best friends was Emily...I can't remember her last name. But she was really cool and she played the guitar and she loved Cheap Trick, so I did too. I had the biggest crush on Rick Nielsen. He still looked pretty cute last night, too, though I have never dug that braided beard look before! And Robin looked very handsome (he needed a little age to get over that pretty boy thing), and Bun E. still looks like somebody's uncle. God, I felt like I was in high school again!
