26 March Got my CDNow order on Tuesday and brought them to work yesterday to listen to. I saved them to play after most people left around six or so, because I sing along, especially with Chess. And I really must re-iterate at this time that I entirely blame Diane on the fact that I spent $25 on a cd of an album that I already have! It really is such a crappy tape that I needed to replace it eventually, but it sticks in my craw to spend that much on a fucking record, of all things. Anyway, I was slightly bemused to find that I remembered every word of the lyrics even though I haven't listened to it for ages (shows you how much I listened to it in the past!), but I found that I had an error or two in my memory! You see, because it was a tape of the record, I never had the libretto, so it wasn't until yesterday evening that I realized that the line in: "One Night in Bangkok" that I had always sung as: "Time flies, doesn't seem a minute since the Derolean's bar had the chess boys in it" (who are the Deroleans? Where is their bar? Why were they playing chess there?") is in fact: "Time flies, doesn't seem a minute since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it"! You see, Americans pronounce the word "tie-ROLL-lee-an" and Brits apparently pronounce it "tih-roe-LEE-an" so I really couldn't be expected to pull that out of my ass without the lyric sheet in front of me, could I? But it really does chap my ass that it took me thirteen years to find out that I'm singing it wrong!
We're changing banks at work, from Chase to Fleet. I, of course, have to make the deposit every day, so this does affect my life. At the old office, the Chase branch was a short block away, so I could forget to make the deposit until 2.57p. Where we are now the nearest Chase is a ten minute walk away, so if it's 2.40p and I haven't prepared the deposit yet I decide to wait until the next day. So I asked around "Does anyone know where the nearest Fleet branch is? Has anyone ever heard of Fleet Bank?" I figure that I'll spend from 1p to 4p going up and back to 199th St. and 1st Ave. or something. Making the deposit will be my entire job.
So after a mere eight days of drumming my fingers and whining, my new domain has finally been registered with that slow-pokey old Internic! It's called Hedgehog.net and feel free to visit it, though nothing much is there as yet, so you needn't rush to change your bookmarks. However, I am trying to get a head start on changing my e-mail address with everyone in the known universe, so if everyone could change it in their address books to hedgehog@hedgehog.net I'd really appreciate it!
Coupla new journals--my friend Tracy has started a swell journal that y'all should check out, and so has a very lovely girl named Wendy who says that she was inspired by me, but clearly she was inspired to be a much better designer than I! While you're at it, look at this funny thing that Nicole did!
