Okay, it's Diary Collaboration time!
I haven't done this since it started up again a couple of months ago, but I managed to actually remember to do it this time, so here goes:
1) If you won the 195 million Powerball, would you
a) take the 195 million over 20 years?
or b) take the 104 million cash payment now?
2) Why?
3) How would you spend the money from the option you chose?
1 & 2) I would take the 20 year payment because I would rather have the security of knowing that no matter what idiotic thing I managed to do, I would still have 9.75 million dollars (less taxes) guaranteed every year.
3) What I want most of all is a nest, or several nests. Places to live in the places I love. So I would get a brownstone in the Village on one of those twisty streets that are really difficult to give directions to, a house in Sevenoaks, Kent, England, and maybe a place in New Paltz, in the Catskills.
After buying the houses, I would probably give 10% to my Mom, 10% divided among some friends (start sucking up now, guys!), 20% to various charities (my theatre company, AIDS, film preservation, Interlochen, my grade school, the Jersey Wildlife Trust), 10% for living expenses, and the rest invested or whatever it is that you do when you have too much money to spend!
And of course I'd invest in an independent movie or two and a Broadway play for myself, and hire all my friends! I know alot of talented actors, baby.
Yesterday was such a beautiful day that it was a sin to be indoors.
