7 June The show went generally well again last night. It was a shockingly huge house. Shockingly, because when I enter I have my head down for about five minutes, so when I finally looked up, I practically jumped back in surprise, as not only was the house full, but there was an extra row set up, so they were a good deal closer than usual as well. Afterwards, since it was Le's birthday, we all went over to Zuni's, me helping Fran out by taking Molly off his hands while he dealt with Bonnie, and both of us looking out the door every so often saying "Where's Mommy?" The party was fun. Bill got out of the hospital that afternoon and he looked so much better, and Deb and Richard were there with baby Paul who is about half the size of Bonnie, though he is a month older. Of course, both his parents are small so it follows. And Molly waited until 12.30 to have major hysterics, so everyone had fun before we had to go!
In the afternoon I went to Macy's to measure my fingers. Mom has been after me to get my ring sizes for absolutely ages, but what with the show and all I never had time. I guess I'm getting a ring for my birthday! Of course, I couldn't get out of Macy's without buying something. I was blindsided by the Origins section. What is Origins? Origins sells bath stuff, so naturally I was unable to pass without getting different versions of things that I already have ten times over at home. I really must stop buying stuff until I actually use some of it up! Anyway, if you must know (I must! I must!), I got Salt Rub (body scrub), Never a Dull Moment (facial scrub), Liquid Clay (cleanser), Clear Improvement (charcoal mask), Skin Diver (charcoal body wash), Sprinkler System (skin hydrator), The Last Straw (peach conditioning shampoo), No Deposit (orange shampoo), Clear Head (mint shampoo), and powder, lotion (called Body Souffle, so who can pass up buying that?) and fragrance in the Spring Fever scent. Spring Fever is fantastic. It smells like oranges, but not entirely, and the greatest thing about it is that I appear to not be allergic to it! I love and adore perfume, and have tons of little bottles, but they pretty much all make me cough and my nose run and stuff, so it's quite something to find a scent I can wear without needing Kleenex!
On Friday after the show, Le said to me "You've got a call from me on your answering machine that you don't want." and I said "O no, Le, don't make me direct! I don't wanna direct! I need a break after this damn show!" and he explained that with Kirsten convalescing (she oversees the one act festivals), he needed directors that could work on their own without needing alot of hand-holding. "How long is it?" I asked. "Well, it's not short, it's about forty pages, but it's only three actors, and they are all good and not troublesome!" So of course I said yes, what else could I do?
There was this company member whose name I can never remember, though I like him very much, and last night Fran asked me surreptitiously what his name was, and I told him that I hadn't the foggiest. A couple of hours later, Richard beckoned me over and asked "What's that guy's name? The one with the long hair?" and I said that Fran had asked me earlier and I couldn't remember, and he said that Brit could remember either. That was when I thought that maybe nobody knows his name! Everybody thinks they've just forgotten it, but in truth he doesn't have a name at all!
