6 June Well, as far as disastrous opening nights go...it wasn't bad! This was really a quite irritating week, as weeks go--Kirsten was hit by the bus, the show was terrifying, work was a nightmare, and Friday was a supremely tense day at work, so I was on my way to the theatre trying to take deep breaths and rid myself of the tension and believe that I'd remember all of my lines no matter what others did onstage. I got there, set my props, put on makeup and costume, went over my monologue, went to the bathroom four or five times, then took my place backstage waiting to enter. During the first monologue, while I'm waiting, I heard my friend Kevin laugh out in the audience, and thought "O, Kevin's here! That's okay, then!" and I relaxed and did the show. And we said most of the lines in more or less the right order, except for poor Frank who's only line got cut off, and the audience didn't kill themselves with boredom, and I got some laughs, and you really can't expect more than that.
I'm too wiped to write anything more. It really was a tough week, tougher than I realized until just now, so more tomorrow.
