(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

6 December

You know, I have realized why I find it so difficult to do opening and closing paragraphs for my column! It's because I never have to do it here. Because I just kind of start in the middle and end in the middle without having to make it complete.

Lazy writing, it's my favourite kind, but the older you get, the harder those bad habits are to break.

Yesterday morning, I got up and turned on VH1 Behind the Music, and that was it for the rest of the day.

First there was an hour of Studio 54, which was awfully interesting (my favourite bit was an interview with three guys who never got into Studio--my God, guys, it was 20 years ago, time to get over that rejection!), then an hour of Gloria Estefan, of whom I am no fan but also have no particular objections to, then an hour of Boy George, and then there was no going back.

Meat Loaf (the one show that I would have actually sought out--I love Meat Loaf), Jan and Dean (a pretty inspiring story, actually), Tony Orlando--I was sucked into the maw of the has-been rocker.

Go ahead, ask me anything about Tony Orlando, I am currently one of the greatest living experts!

Finally, Cynthia came and rescued me and we went Christmas shopping at the maaaaaaalllll!! I never get to go to the mall, so it's an unusual treat by me.

I did pretty well, got a bunch of presents and only one thing for myself, which ain't bad. Plus Stern's (where we did most of the actual buying part of this shopping trip) was having a "Super Saturday Sale!!!" so everything was way cheap.

I got an original Tigger for Molly, a little plastic purse with eight brightly coloured nail polishes that Katie will go nuts for, an apple scented home fragrance pack (room spray, potpourri, candle, etc.) for Teri, and a couple of other presents, and everything was 30%-40% off!

The thing I got for myself was a gorgeous green silk men's jacket--not shiny silk, that really really soft dull kind that you can't stop petting. It was $40 with 30%, so I decided to get it, and I got another surprise 15% off at the register, so this perfect jacket only cost $23. I would have paid $40, too.

And the guy even gave me the hanger!

Then, we went to the other mall, the Garden State Plaza, ostensibly in order to check it out, it being the bestest mall in all the land (except for Century City in Los Angeles), but really in order to go to Cinnabon, barely able to stagger out under the weight of all those calories in a bag.

I swear, those things are Satan's cinnamon rolls.

Remember, if you want a real life Christmas card, sent your real life address to me!
