31 August Hello, Lobster-Girl here! Luis and Wendi had a party yesterday for their 13-year-old's, um, 13th birthday, and Nik and I went and swam in the pool and burned like sausages in the August sun. I got sun on my arms, I got sun on my shoulders and back, I got sun on my chest and my face. I am pink, I am red, I am brownish-red. Nik got a bit burned on his cheeks and nose and the tops of his ears and on his shoulders and upper arms (his lower arms are too covered with his protective coating of fur to have gotten much colour). My legs, though, mostly having been underwater or under the picnic table, are still blue-white like skimmed milk. The funniest thing is my arms, though, because the underside are their normal fishbelly white colour, , but the tops are the colour of a reddish brown crayon, and I kept pointing at my arms and crying: "Look! I look human!"
I forgot to ever tell about Cynthia's birthday present! She gave me a bag of goodies from The Body Shop, which included Milk Bath, a Body Exfoliating Sponge, Fuzzy Peach Bath & Shower Gel, Orange Cream Bath Oil, and four bars of soap. I looked at it thinking "Hooray! Soap!" and then, "O God, not more soap!" I have so much soap, but I couldn't help being thrilled.
And then I got home last night to a marvelous birthday parcel from Lizzie containing a tape of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, a great-smelling aromatic eye pillow, two bags of Tub Tea, and two bars of soap, one lemongrass and one cassia clove! And, as I laughed and sniffed them ecstatically, I realized that no matter what I do, I will more than likely die with about twenty bars of unused soap, since not only am I unable to stop buying it, but the word is out that I love it and people are going to be giving it to me!
And I wouldn't have it any other way! Thanks, Lizzie!
