Due to various slownesses in Accounting (out of three people, one is on her honeymoon and another's last day is today, so she doesn't care anymore) we had so totally nothing to do yesterday in AP.

Therefor, I was able to go through my Pile of Shame.

The Pile of Shame is the pile of stuff shoved into a corner on my desk that needs going through and fiddling with and phone calls need to be made and everything is a big pain in the ass and I never have time for it.

Well, I did yesterday! I feel very virtuous.

So I am going to my friend Richard's surprise 40th birthday party tonight (you can keep a secret, can't you?) so I went into the darkroom last night and made him a present.

That's the nice thing about being a photographer--you're totally set for presents with all of your friends who have children! Yes, I blew up a great picture of baby Paul from Michelle and Marq's wedding in which he looks more like an elf than ever.

Have I mentioned that their child looks like an elf?

Well, he does. To an astonishing extent, in fact. Deb was less than thrilled when I mentioned it, especially since the first time I saw him I said he looked like a frog, so I am batting zero on describing her child as far as she is concerned.

When she rang to invite me, she said "You remember me, I'm the one with the son who looks like an elf and should do advertising for Macy's at Christmas-time." and "There'll be a cake and maybe I'll dress up my elfin son and we'll all get a big yuk over him!"

You think she's taking it badly? Eventually I must give him a little hat with bells or curly toed shoes...

And then afterwards I went to see Michelle at the bar, where she is filling in while one of the bartenders is on holiday. I walked in and said "What the hell are you doing out of the house? Get back to your child and your kitchen right this very little minute!"

She demurred.

I gave her what I think is the best picture from the wedding--it's this blurred shot of Marq throwing back his head and laughing, and it is just so joyous. I wanted to give them a copy just in case they weren't planning on buying one!

So yesterday I linked Kim Rollins and Rob Hudson, and Rob Hudson linked Kim Rollins but not me. I thought that it looked as though Rob and I take bribes!

I cannot speak for Rob, but I sure would, were anyone offering!

One year ago today:
I am told that I looked like a sleepy poppy all day.
