27 August I realize that Hurricane Bonnie is not hilarious to many people, but since the baby living upstairs from me is named Bonnie, every time I hear them say on the news "Coming up, the fury of Bonnie!" I just laugh and laugh. And of course, the last hurricane to destroy North Carolina was Fran, who also lives upstairs from me! So all I have to say is, if there is ever a hurricane named Cynthia, Katie or Molly, look out North Carolina!
All Bonnie has done round our way, hurricane-wise, has made it appallingly hot and humid and the air unbreathable. Another one of those breathing oatmeal, breathing milkshakes, breathing Jello days yesterday. There is a surprise birthday party for my friend Richard on Friday in an rooftop restaurant (can there be a few more surprise parties in then next few weeks? There have only been 95 of them since June!) and hopefully ol' Bonnie will refrain from raining all over us at the party, but will have rained before the party so as to break the heat!
I think that's the birthday present that Richard really wants.
Found the swellest new journal yesterday, Sugar and Preserve. I actually checked it out a couple of weeks ago, due to an interesting post the author made on Diary-L and bookmarked it to look at later, but then, in reading it, I realized that she was the same Kim Rollins who writes for Wednet, the same Kim Rollins that Rob Hudson mentioned some months ago! So I figured that, since every time I turned around I was running into this woman's writing, I had best read the damn thing at last, and it was one of those situations where I was so glad that I was reading it after work because I kept laughing out loud, and I never would have been able to finesse that I was reading invoices! Great stuff. Go to!
