(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

8 April

Okay, I cheered up a bit yesterday, because my favourite sales rep was there (the one that sends me gum in the mail) and he flirted with me and I felt a little less repulsive, even though I know that he only does it to get his expense check before anyone else.

He's no fool, it works!

Also, the weather cleared up and it was sunny and bright and beautiful and who can be sad on a day like that?! I figured out a couple of years ago that I have that sunshine thing--you know, I'm a little groggy all winter long, and only when the sun comes out do I come to life.

"Come to life" ha, I virtually turn into Pollyanna!
"Nothing can really be wrong on such a beautiful day!"

I know, yecchh, but I can't help it.

Also, I got a note from my friend Robert in Boston (in absolute defiance of my "don't e-mail me!" dictum), saying:

"Come to Boston, dear one, and you'll have a room full of homosexuals at your feet, rapturously hanging on your every word. It may not be what you want, but it's what I can offer."

This is the best offer I've gotten in awhile!

By the way, despite everything else, The Spanish Prisoner is a completely fantastic filum!

I don't want to say much, because I don't want to ruin anything, but it's one of those films where you have to pay absolute attention to every little thing, because who knows what's going to become vitally important later!

Steve Martin is fantastic--my Mom saw the movie on Saturday and said there wasn't the smallest bit of "Steve Martin" in his performance. And Campbell Scott is a completely wonderful actor and Mrs. David Mamet is kind of annoying, but it really worked for the character, and Felicity Huffman, with whom I went to both high school and college and who should work more than she does, because she is a glorious actress, had a nice big role and was just swell and I wasn't jealous at all!

Well, hardly at all. I am human, after all.

It's a movie for smart people--go see it!

The show opened last night, by the way. It went well--the actors did a good job, particularly Danielle, though the house was small and everything felt a little tentative. I've seen it better, but I've also seen it much worse, so I was very pleased.

They'll kick out the jams one of these nights, though, I know.

I have decided something.

I have decided that you can't blame a person for being themselves, and it's a waste of time to try to act like you think someone wants you to, since you're going to be wrong about 50% of the time (or, if you are me, 75%) so you might as well be yourself, too.

I told Cynthia and Fran this last night, and Cynthia said "That really does sound suspiciously healthy. Are you sure you're you?"
