2 April Well, yesterday was chock-full of April Fools gags! At work on every desk was a flyer saying that, to celebrate the start of National Lab Week, one of our clients was treating the entire company to a pizza lunch at 1p! Later, the word went around that it was an April Fools prank, that there would be no pizza, and people kept coming to the front desk asking whether the pizza had arrived yet, because if there was really going to be any pizza, nobody wanted to be missing it! Anyway, at 1.30, a million pizzas arrived, and it turned out that the April Fools joke was the rumour that there wouldn't be pizza! I thought it was pretty clever, myself!
The weather played a pretty annoying April Fools. Of course, as I have been trumpeting ad nauseum, it's been gorgeous ever since last Thursday, so I went to work in a light linen dress and no jacket or hat or...umbrella. What do you suppose happened? You guessed it! Monsoon!
I inadvertently played an April Fools joke on myself. I walked by the cat box yesterday morning and practically fainted at the smell, which I thought was odd because, as you may remember, I have almost no sense of smell, and haven't for ten-fifteen years. It seemed no dirtier than usual, so I thought that maybe one of the cats was sick or something. And then it occurred to me that maybe the reason that I lost my sense of smell in the first place was the smoking, and now that I've quit...it's coming back. I don't think that this is a good thing. I am entirely uninterested in smelling the cat box on a regular basis.
And either Al played one on me or I played one on everyone! I linked him yesterday, as he told me that he was going to do a special April Fools entry, but it wasn't there all day! Turns out that he writes them the night of the day in question, so it's up now (swear!) and it's really funny.
