23 October It got cold! I was standing on the steps of the theatre having a cigarette last night, shivering in my thick suede jacket and remembering being out there only a week before dressed in only a t-shirt, no coat or anything. Well, it is October after all, so I don't know why I'm all surprised and everything, but it does seem awfully sudden.
Back to the salt mines last night.
Meaning that Dracula was back on, after a two day break. And it was...ummm...an interesting version of the show.
Man, give a bunch of actors a couple of days off, and they come back all loopy and reeling and acting as though they haven't said those lines for months on end. The accents were worse than ever (even from the people who usually do them pretty well), the entire show was as slow as molasses, people were forgetting about the cuts and adding stuff back in, and Jonathan Harker's voice got so high at some points that only dogs could hear it--I whispered this to Rebecca and she said "O, I get it, he's not actually dropping all those lines after all!"
It should be back to normal tonight, I should imagine.
At work yesterday I had to go back to that other office to do more data entry on the new system. Diane was there for four hours in the morning and inputted N, O and half of P. She insisted that N was really really long, as was P, but I went over there for four hours and did the rest of P, Q, R, S, T, U and V. Meaning I finished, because the end of the alphabet had already been done! I felt very clever, but it was just that it was threatened that we would have to come back next week and finish, and I so totally didn't want to come back again, so I barreled through like a sonovabitch until I finished--and got to the show at about three minutes after eight. I'm sure there were heart-attacks all around. "Are you sure she knows there's a show tonight?"
I have a big problem with Boogie Nights. I mean, I really want to see Boogie Nights, because I heard that Boogie Nights is really awfully good, but the problem I think, with Boogie Nights is the fact that, since it is called Boogie Nights I cannot get that fucking song out of my head! And I can only imagine it getting worse after actually seeing the movie. Because boogie nights are always the best in town, you know.
