(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

22 October

So yesterday I met another on-line friend!

He's Jim Foley, and I know him from the Randy Newman list, and he was in town on business and suggested that we get together for dinner. And I was stomping down the street to the restaurant saying "I don' wanna, I don' wanna! I hate meeting new people!" Yes, I was dreading it!

Of course, I had a wonderful time. Maybe someday I'll learn.

We went to this lovely restaurant called Falidia just a couple of blocks away from my job, which would have been really convenient and everything if only I hadn't had to go across town to the theatre to drop off the pictures that I took right beforehand.

I walked through the door and practically turned right around and walked out again, because there I was with my t-shirt and leggings and dirty hair (not my fault--there was no hot water yesterday morning!) and it was really fancy and filled with people in suits.

I was a little worried about the food as well, because this wasn't exactly the kind of Italian restaurant that serves spaghetti and meatballs, but I had a really nice rack of lamb so it wasn't another "Kymm trying desperately to find something she can eat" disaster.

At work yesterday I had to go to the office of the people designing our new AP system to input all of our data into said new system.

What an absolute nightmare. I have never been so bored. First off, it was freezing cold, and I was dressed lightly because it's tropically hot at The Company That Must Not Be Named, and nobody had a radio on, and there was something about the light that made me completely sleepy, and the actual work was deadly.

And I have to do it again today. I'm bringing my Walkman.

Yesterday's fun lunatic on the subway encounter was in the morning, which is slightly unusual. There was this woman who was pretty ordinary-looking and nicely dressed, but she seemed to be having a conversation with an invisible person, and kept yelling out things like "I'm dead!" and "You're on drugs!" and, my personal favourite:

"Is my omelette ready yet?"

Well, it was breakfast time...
