19 October So yesterday, after getting up so late, I went to Love Creek to do the photo shoot, getting there twenty minutes late, which meant that it was canceled because Le needed the space to rehearse in. So I'm going again today, which means a big rush because the shoot is at 4p and Dracula is at 5p.
I was so worried yesterday, that I wouldn't be able to have fun in the booth with Rebecca (the writer and director) there, and the show started and I bit my tongue and bit my tongue and bit my tongue, but then Mina goes to Jonathan (the dork bunny) in France and he says "Darling, I must ask you a second time--will you be mine?" and I whispered "Say no, say no!!" and she started to giggle, so I knew that it was cool to laugh at the show. Selectively...
We're starting to get some of the vampire weirdo groupies at the show. Last night in the lobby beforehand, there was this intense looking guy grilling the house manager: "Is this Bram Stoker's Dracula? Are you sure???!!!" No, it's Jacqueline Susanne's Dracula, fool, what the fuck do you think?
My favourite mistake yesterday was at the end of the second act. At that point, all three areas of the stage are going, the stage right platform being Mina's room, the stage left platform being the madhouse, and the main platform being Lucy's crypt. At one point, Renfield comes onstage in a straight jacket with the arms unties, shrieking about Dracula, and he's at the end of the platform and he's gesturing, and one of the straps flies out and whacks Jonathan (who is in Lucy's crypt) on the back. And he turns around!!! Rebecca didn't see it, so I turned around and whispered to her that perhaps she should remind that moron that he and Renfield are not actually in the same building, so he should ignore any random strap whacking.
