(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

12 October

So yesterday morning Melody and her friend finally talk to each other on the phone, we go to McDonald's, I walk her to the subway, and then I decide to run a few errands.

So I update this page, walk down to the post office to pick up a package (Marlboro Miles stuff--a red jersey and a Zippo lighter), wander back home, and as I reach my door I hear this pathetic little voice say "Kymm?"

I turned, and it was Melody again! She had gone into Manhattan to the apartment of her friend's cousin, but she couldn't find it! She wandered around Wall Street (admittedly a most confusing area) for hours before giving up and coming back to my house.

And why didn't she call them? She'd forgotten their phone number at my house, of course!

And then she was calling her friend and trying to figure out a way to not meet up with her, but the friend was insisting. And I was howling with laughter as she goes "Um...why don't you go meet up with your cousin and I'll catch up with you later? No? You just wanna stay there and wait for me? Are you sure?" And Melody finally figured out what the problem with her was. It's that she hates New York!

I mean, I understand people not liking New York, though it's such a varied city I don't see how you could not like every bit of it, but the reason she doesn't like it is extremely odd. It's because she thinks there is nothing to do!

And she was quoted as saying "It's just alot of buildings and shopping and stuff and it just doesn't interest me all that much".

Then I went to the supermarket to get a couple of things and ended up staggering home groaning under the weight of six big bags of stuff.

But remember when I talked about the Spaghetti-Ohs? How they are not to be found in New York no matter how hard you look? Well, I was in the grocery store--the very same grocery store that I have been shopping in for ten years, just sort of walking along the aisles eyeballing stuff, and they had some!

I'm moving away in a couple of months and now they get them?! Maybe I'll start getting other things that I've mentioned wanting very much...

This is specifically to drive journalists all over the web into a frenzy of jealousy:

On Friday night when Melody and I were out with The Journalist That Must Not Be Named, we asked, and received a peek at her legendary palmtop.

It was extremely cool.

I mean, it's FANTASTIC, but it has no resemblance to pizza...
