6 October So yesterday John and I were going to see Ulee's Gold at the $3 theatre, but as I rushed up (late) I heard John's voice calling from a car parked at the curb. It seems that his roommate, Rochelle, had gone to a wedding on Saturday and wasn't able to get her rental car back in time, so they decided that it would be fun to go upstate to the Catskills to see the fall colour. So I leapt into the car and off we drove. It was great fun! We drove and drove and finally saw a sign saying "Catskills Exits 16-21" so we decided to randomly choose an exit, which was 18, and just get out and look around. Exit 18 was a marvelous little town called New Palz, and we stopped and got hot cider, went to a yard sale and bought a dining room table for Rochelle and John's new apartment, went to a record store and got an LP of Randy Newman's Good Old Boys (brilliant album), and basically just kept sighing "Let's move up here! Let's rent a house! It's only a two hour commute to the city!"
Driving back to Brooklyn, we stopped at Junior's, a restaurant on Flatbush that I haven't been to in ages and which has the greatest cheesecake on earth. The slices are enormous--as big as your head, and in front of us in the queue was this absolutely massive woman who kept making them bring slice after slice and comparing to see which one was the biggest. My piece is in my fridge and I will take a week of longer to eat it--it's like a quarter of a cake! What on earth difference to a couple of millimeters make?
I dyed my hair last night (at last at last) and it was like straw when I finished, so I decided to do a deep conditioning with this Banana Hair Putty that I got from the Body Shop (I think I just liked the word "putty") and I had to put so much of it on that my hair still absolutely reeks of bananas. And I loathe bananas...
If anyone out there designs on IE, can you give me some advice? I saw my page on IE when I was at Cynthia's the other night, and was surprised to see that the left table is all wrong. In Netscape it starts down by the entry date because I have a bunch of line breaks, what do I need to put there to make it move down in IE? Also, I was reminded that my javascript entry titles don't work--anyone have a still javascript that works in IE?
