1 October Well well well, look at this! Yes, the fabled re-design has arrived at last! And if you're looking at this from the archives (like Anita, for one!), for heaven's sake go here or you'll miss all the fun! (of course, the above is all moot now, but I left it!) As you can see, I have gone black-on-white, but it is not because of the crit, it's because I really liked this background for an autumn page, and the next version will probably have red type on a green background or something like that. The one thing that I really got from the crit was getting all that schmutz from the bottom of the page all neatly in the table on the left without actually getting rid of anything. Everything's still centred, though...heeheehee... Well, whaddaya think?
And speaking of the crit... After posting my crits yesterday I got some very fuffy mail from various friends and strangers in high dudgeon that anyone would say such things about me, which I thought was very sweet, but I feel the need to point out that I did in fact invite these critiques. It's a group of online journalists called The Theatre of Blood who have banded together to give each other feedback, and I really truly wanted to hear what my peers had to say. Some things I agreed with, some things I did not (and some things I agreed with but am not changing anyway), but I was pleased to hear from everyone.
So anyway we teched Monday night and opened last night. At tech all the shows were pretty off including mine, and last night at opening all the shows were really good except for mine, which was still off. They have two more shots at it, though.
So Monday I called The Candyman to tell him when my show was. I was still faintly irritated about him not calling back before, but I had promised to remind him about my show, so I rang and left this pissy little message saying: "This is a message for The Candyman. This is Kymm Zuckert calling. My show runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at nine pm, so come if you can and if you can't that's fine too." Got home after tech and he had called. He said: "Hi, it's me, I just got in from the first read through of a new musical I'm doing in November, and of course my other show is opening Friday, so I've been really busy...probably not quite busy enough to be excused for not calling in so long..." I'm telling you, passive-aggressive is the way to go.
