(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

14 November

Okay darlings, tonight is the opening. I'm scared out of my tree.

I haven't invited anyone to the show (except for The Journalist That Must Not Be Named) so if I turn out to be a laughing-stock, nobody will know!

Because I am too stupid to make the prints in a standard size so that I could buy ready made mats, I had to buy them uncut. I tried for hours last night to cut them, but was unable to do so. The best of them was revolting, the worst was...kind of a cardboard modern art sculpture. So I decided, fuck 'em. Frames only, no mats.

Then I went home and did the colouring, and I ended up colouring the candle on Birthday Head pink with a yellow flame--it looks really excellent. Even without a mat.

So recently my Mom was standing in front of the house watching the tree guys lop twenty feet off of the top of our pine tree, and our next door neighbour, Helga, came outside. Now, my mother has not spoken to Helga in about fifteen years (we know how to hold a grudge in our family, I'll tell ya!) but at that very little minute, she decided that maybe it had been long enough, and she spoke to her.

Well, the neighbour was so thrilled, because she had tried to talk to my Mom plenty of times in the past fifteen years, but Mom would only give short answers (my Da would talk to her, though). So they chatted for awhile, and Helga started walking backwards down the driveway, still talking, and not taking her eyes off my mother.

Then she lost her balance and rolled down the hill, bumping her head at the bottom.

And Mom told me all she could think was "Boy, I wish I hadn't talked to her!"

I finished Stephen King's The Regulators the other day.

What a disappointment. 498 pages for a very weak denouement. My fave King things are The Shining, 'Salem's Lot, The Green Mile, the two books of short stories, Danse Macabre (non-fiction) and the poem Paranoid (A Chant).

The Regulators doesn't come anywhere near that list.

I have a new favourite web page! It's Daily Drivel and I love it with all of my heart. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
