(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

8 May

I was half watching an interview recently, and the interviewer asked "What is your defining characteristic?"

And I was thinking about it, and I have decided that my defining characteristic is that I'm funny. No matter what's going on, every minute of every day, I'm always working the funny.

The way that I deal with people is by making them laugh. When I meet somebody new (which I hate like Hell's pains--I have said it before and I'll say it again, I have met enough people in my life. No more.) I don't walk up to them with a big smile on my face say "Hello, my name is Kymm, what's your name?", in fact, I don't say anything. What I do is I sit in the corner and quietly start making jokes and sarcastic comments until they start laughing, and once they're laughing then I am in a postition of power and I don't have to be afraid of them anymore.

When you're the funny one, you are in charge.

Judy and I were in the office listening to Cousin Brucie's Yearbook on CBS-FM, and on came The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, and even though I haven't heard the song in twenty years I was singing along lustily, and then we started talking about all of those wonderful over-dramatic story songs of the 70's. She sang Run, Joey, Run and I sang Angie Baby, and we talked about Seasons in the Sun, The Night Chicago Died, Paradise By the Dashboard Light, and the great Cher trilogy, Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, Half-Breed and Dark Lady. It was a great time for melodrama on the radio.

I think you'll be humming those songs all day now. Don't bother to thank me.

A guy called while I was at the phones and he said, "Hi, um, I'm coming for an interview and I'm looking for your company between 59th and 60th and I can't find it!" and I answered, "Well, that's because we're between 60th and 61st." It was as though he thought an invisible wall popped up on the corner of 60th Street and he just couldn't look an inch further.

Boy, I sure hope we don't let this one get away!

I heard a funny thing on the radio. It was a commercial for Northwest Airlines, and they mentioned the website, nwa.com.

Guess they're not big rap fans, huh?
