(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

23 March

Continuing in my quest to see every movie in New York this weekend, I saw Michael Collins yesterday.

Dug it very seriously, but I'm a big ol' mick, and I'm wild about Liam Neeson, Stephen Rea and Alan Rickman, and Aidan Quinn's pretty dishy as well, so 'twas to be expected.

Liam was just swell as the big fella, one of Ireland's greatest heroes and martyrs, really making him into a man and not a plaster saint, and except that the scenes leading up to his martyrdom were laid on with a trowel and Alan Rickman's Irish accent was really quite hideously bad (worse than Julia Roberts'--hers was in and out, but when it was on it was just fine), it was a triffic film.

Or filum, to say it in Irish.

Last night I babysat Molly for Cynthia and Francis (she's much older than in the picture--fourteen months now). It's the first time that I've sat her at the house, usually I'm with her when Cynthia's nearby, and she was really quite horrified at the whole situation.
To quote Sage, she was just so traigic, holding her arms out to the empty air and sobbing "Mama, Mama" and all I could think of was Sophie's Choice, and I just could not stop laughing.

The other really good bit was that Cynthia had told me that she would pretty much cry until she fell asleep, but I had no idea that she meant it literally.

This is what she did:
SCREAMSCREAMSCREAM-sleep.

It was like flipping a switch. I felt so heartless laughing like a drain, but Cynthia told me afterwards that she's glad that Molly being upset doesn't make me upset.

I figure babies cry, why get worked up over it?

Have you seen the Hyundai commercial that's a Jaws takeoff and the car is driving on the water and in tiny print at the bottom of the screen it says

"Professional driver on closed course. Do not attempt."

I was trying to figure out how stupid they think people are, but then I remembered that this is America.

Did y'all see Stephen Tyler on SNL lat night?
Is it my imagination or is he looking more and more like Joan Collins every day?
