2 March

So, I had two parties to go to last night--the office party and Debbie's birthday party. Now, I really did want to go to the office party, because this is the only time they ever spend any money on us and I wanted to get what I could, but it was raining and I had to dress up...

So I skipped it, and just went to Richard and Debbie's, which was lots of fun. I gave Debbie a copy of Sky Building that she appropriately oohed and ahhed over, and I got to bed at 5a.

Place where I am a regular and they know me:

The drugstore where I get my colour film developed
The McDonald's where I go for breakfast
The Korean grocery across the street
The Korean grocery down the block
The laundromat
The cleaners
The newsstand outside the Times Square subway station
The newsstand INside the Times Square subway station
The coffee shop near my house
The coffee shop near the theatre
The bodega near the subway with the cat
The bodega on my block that's open 'till midnight
The bodega on my block that's open PAST midnight
The smokeshop near the theatre
Zuni's, the bar we go to after shows
The deli near the theatre with the cat
The deli near the theatre that closes at 8p
The five and dime where I buy my video tapes
The Kentucky Fried Chicken near work
The Korean deli near work

Even in big cites, we make our own small towns.

So, at my Da's memorial I saw Sandy Wallace, the mother of my childhood friends Dana and Shannon and their little brothers Donovan and Derek, and she told me that Derek was in one of the Mets farm teams and was hoping to be called up to the Show. I told my friend Nik at work on Thursday, and on Friday he brought me the paper that said that he had been signed! Isn't that neat?

I hate the Yankees with all of my heart and soul and have since childhood, but I really have no feelings one way or the other about the Mets, so it won't stick in my craw to root for them.

As I read around Open Pages, I only have one thing to say:
Am I the ONLY diarist without a cold?
