So, yesterday was finally gorgeous.
In the 80s, not much humidity, a really lovely day.
Of course, I was only outside for a good eight minutes all day, so I'm not really in a position to say, but I heard it was nice on the radio.

So last night I went to see Cynthia kick butt in an exhibition at the dojo, which she did handily. When she was forcing me...oops! I mean talking me into coming, she told me that they would be breaking boards (just like in the movies!) and really fighting hard, not point fighting which can be as dull as watching the Home Shopping Network, and I have to admit, she was right!

The board breaking was totally fabulous. Cynthia needed two tries, but she was breaking two boards at once, and one girl totally embarrassed herself by setting up this very fancy break (one to the left, one to the right, and one behind her) and not even breaking the first one in three tries. This one guy kicked a board in half that was actually higher than his head, which was about the coolest thing I've ever seen.

And the fights were neat, too. Some of them were basically straight boxing with an occasional kick thrown in, and some were like watching tiny children fight, all arms and legs flailing, and some would have had me up on my feet cheering if I was the kind of person who would do that at a fight.

Great Christ.

Well, I've been checking the purported Yahoo changes, and the URLs for the main page in "Entertainment:People" and the Randy Newman page in "Entertainment: Music: Artists: By Genre: Rock: Newman, Randy" have updated at last, but I have not been added to "Entertainment/Humor__Jokes__and_Fun/Writing/Diaries/".

God I hope it doesn't take another eight months...

I may be talking out of my ass here because I've only seen the poster, but does anyone else get the impression from the film A Simple Wish that Martin Short and Kathleen Turner's careers are at an all-time low?
