5 July So I spent the fourth indoors mostly, watching TV and chugging my way through Tracing (I will read every entry if it kills me, goddammit!). It was a nice day, thank God--hot but not as humid as Thursday when the air was like breathing oatmeal. I was invited to Luis', but it's such a trek to Staten Island, and I really wanted to be rested for Eric and Rosemary's wedding today, as it's my very first wedding job and I'm really nervous. So I just stayed in (with a brief trek to the post office to Express Mail Mom's birthday card with my fingers crossed that she'll get it by Monday or she'll have my guts for garters) and took a fancy bath with lavender stuff and deep cleaned my hair and my face and used rice bran scrub and painted my nails dark blue (which was a surprise as it sure looked purple in the bottle!) and felt very clean and pampered.
I also watched some movies on video, Flirting With Disaster, which was okay, pretty funny but not exceptional, and Things to Do In Denver When You're Dead which was simply dreadful. What a pile of pseudo-Tarentino crap.
"Girls who glide need guys who make them thump".
And I made a bread pudding, like I would have if I had gone to Luis'. It just felt right. I couldn't possibly eat it alone, so I'll bring some in to surprise Luis on Monday as he loves it so much, and part of the fun of making it is other people fussing over it.
I watched Dateline last night, and they showed this incredible safari down the Zambezi River in Africa, and now I'm dying to do it. I am not athletic or outdoorsy and can't stand camping. I'm an indoor bathroom kind of girl. But I watched the show and was desperate to get out and photograph the animals in the wild, it just looked so beautiful and exciting. Someday...
