(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

Went to the Whitney yesterday to see the Nan Goldin and the Dada exhibits, which were fantastic. The Goldin show is ending today so it was VERY CROWDED but I turned around at one point and saw this girl and I KNEW I knew her but I couldn't remember her name and I didn't think that she'd remember me so I just sort of followed her around for a little minute and then I finally decided that I had to go over and talk to her so I walked up to her and was about to say "Did you go to NYU? Are you who I think you are?" and she said "Kymm?" so I was stuck with being the ninny who didn't remember her name which was of course, Kerry. But that was cool because it was so neat to see her for the first time in about six years and she looked terrific and she had a beautiful new baby sleeping on her chest and a very sweet-seeming new husband and I had decided not to bother washing my hair before leaving the house which just about figures.

Don't forget, NEW PHOTOS on the photo page again!

And the Dada exhibit was absolutely excellent. Dada is the father of Surrealism, always my favourite style, but I knew very little about it. The idea behind Dada is that everything can be art if the artist decides it is, is one that I have embraced for a long time, and there was just such a sense of joy and fun that I felt like dancing.

Marcel Duchamp is my new hero, after that exhibit. I have this utter crush on him, which is completely silly, as even if he wasn't dead, he'd be 100 this year, but what a genius he was. My favourite story was that Duchamp had a fellow Dadaist give a lecture at Grand Central Station, and the guy screamed obscenities and took off his clothes and was dragged away by police, and Duchamp said "What a wonderful talk!"

How could you not love a guy like that?

I've always really sort of liked and admired Esther Rolle. Whenever I've read an interview with her she seemed very intelligent and stately. WELL, I just saw her new Spiritual Psychic Help Line commercial, so she blew THAT impression!

Guess those Good Times residuals have dried up...
