19 February

Okay, darlings, I'm back to L.A. for my father's memorial. It's taking place on Sunday at 2p Pacific time--think of me wherever you are then.

And if you want to read a couple of things written by much better writers than I about losing one's parents, go here and here.

(short blue line)

This is what I will sing at the memorial:

I was standin' by my window,
On a cold and rainy day
When I saw that hearse come rollin'
For to carry my papa away.

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by.
There's a better home a-waiting,
In the sky, Lord, in the sky.

Undertaker, undertaker,
Undertaker please drive slow.
For that poor old man that you're haulin' away,
Lord I sure hate to see my papa go.

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by.
There's a better home a-waiting,
In the sky, Lord, in the sky.

I will follow close behind him,
I will follow and be brave.
But I could not hide my sorrow,
When they laid my poor papa in his grave.

Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, Lord, by and by.
There's a better home a-waiting,
In the sky, Lord, in the sky.

In the sky, Lord, in the sky.
