So I got up early yesterday to get my driver's license renewed.

Since I couldn't find the old one I needed to bring a pay stub, a credit card, a bank statement and a utility bill, and of course I waited until right before I had to leave to find these things. I found the first three in about four seconds, but the utility bill was a stumper. I was climbing all over boxes looking for something, anything, in one of the boxes or bags from when I wasn't packing so carefully. It took about forty-five minutes, but I finally found a Con Ed bill and went into the city.

The last time I had my DL renewed, which was the first time I got it in New York, they had this TV screen right where they took your picture, and when they took it, it immediately popped up on the screen.

And it did and I went "Argh!!"

And the woman said "That's okay, we can take it again!"

This time, they didn't have that particular form of torture available, so I will be blissfully unaware of how awful I look until it arrives in the mail in 4-6 weeks.

And then after work I went to the dentist, had a completely painless drill-fest, and after it was over I ran to look in the mirror to see how I would have looked in my DL picture if I hadn't remembered in time to go in the morning, and it's a damn good thing I did remember!

I looked like I had Bell's palsy!

Then after that I went to the darkroom to pick up a contact sheet and I smelled pancakes in the elevator. Then when I got out of the elevator, I smelled pancakes again! I thought that seemed odd, but forgot about it. Later, I smelled pancakes on 42nd and 6th, and I realized that I must have been smelling pancakes because I smelled like pancakes!

I don't know why I would smell like pancakes, but it's a pretty good thing to smell like, so I don't mind.

I swear to God, I swear to God, on Monday I was reading Rolling Stone and it mentioned Chris Farley and I thought "I wonder how long before he drops dead due to his heart just exploding".

Don't forget, I'm going home for Xmas on Saturday! So if anyone wants to go on my one time only notify list to let you know when I've come back and posted a new entry, just let me know!
