10 December Surprise! I decided to go all Xmas-y, with the help of Lucy who designed the lovely logo. Isn't it swell? And see? I told you that I wouldn't stay black-type-on-white-background for long!
Christ I'm sick. Monday night I had another on of those "can't sleep due to coughing" nights, and I staggered into work yesterday looking like ice cold death and was immediately pounced on by half my co-workers beating me with sticks and screaming "Go to a doctor! Go to a doctor!!" So I called John's doctor who couldn't see me before Monday and Kelly's doctor who couldn't see me before Monday and Rosemary's doctor who couldn't see me before the 22nd, and then Iris, who is quite the Mom, got very stern with me and told me that Monday was not at all good enough, that I need anti-biotics and I need them now and I might have walking pneumonia and that I had better find a goddamn 'nother doctor. So I went through the insurance book and am seeing the first doctor on the Upper East Side who had an appointment this morning.
The other morning on my way to work I passed the coolest traffic cop. She was standing in the middle of the intersection with her back to the oncoming traffic, right hand on her hip, left arm down by her side with the hand slightly out. And not a single car budged! I have seen cars blatantly ignore traffic cops waving their arms around like windmills, or stop grudgingly, leaning on the horn all the while. But this woman, with the subtlest gestures, kept a whole blockful of cars respectfully still and quiet. I'll bet she's a mom.
Sign seen in the window of Dunkin Donuts:
"Coming Soon
Someone wrote the word Roasted between the Hot and the Chicken. I guess they thought that without it the sign smacked a little too much of the old 42nd St!
