TV! I have TV again!! Hoorah!!

I got home last night and my cable was back on! A whole week without TV was the most horrid thing you could possibly imagine. So I sat down and explored all my new New Jersey channels, and there are some good ones too, like IFC and Flix and Encore, not to mention the fact that I have the Disney channel and HBO and HBO2 and Cinemax. I may never leave the house again!

I watched Mary Poppins on the Disney channel absolutely happy as a lark. I love that movie. It's one of the few films that has a really appalling accent in (Dick Van Dyke's of course, it's revolting) that I don't mind at all.

So. It turns out that Dave Jay is joining the AP department, and nobody's telling me, but I'll bet that he's going to become head of the department when we move and Diane goes into Human Resources. If that's so, I'm definitely quitting, as I find it pretty fucking insulting that they would promote someone ahead of me who isn't even in the department at this time. I mean, I'm capable of running the department, and I have no doubt that I'll be running it for the first couple of months while Dave finds his footing, but he'll be the one getting the big raise and I'll be the one still making shit wages.

I gotta see if I can get a job over at HBO where Fran works.

I walked past The Brooklyn Pastrami Company in Time Square the other day, and noticed a sign proclaiming it the home of "New York's Newest Taste Sensation--Sliders!"

Who are they trying to fool? A slider is a little small cheap hamburger with onions on and White Castle's been selling them for about 75 years.

Newest taste sensation indeed...

Michael from The Other Side, who annoyingly ended his journal right as I caught up with the whole thing, has started a new site, Obscura! Instead of a photo journal, it's photo essays and quite wonderful work.
