(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

26 August

So yesterday was a fine fine day!

And why was it a fine fine day? Remember how I was all gritchy because I didn't get shit for my birthday at the office on Friday? Well, yesterday was Iris' 50th birthday, and we both were taken out to lunch at California Pizza Kitchen! I was told to go there at 12.15, but I wasn't looking at the clock, and I'm so dyslexic that when I finally did look and it said 12.40 I thought it said 11.40 and I had to stare at it for quite a long time before I realized that I was late to my own birthday lunch! So I ran across the street and they hadn't started eating yet, so it was okay.

I had linguini bolognaise and a birthday hot fudge sundae with a candle in it and then was blinking and bloated like a toad for the rest of the day. But boy was I happy! It was great, I got to be resentful about being forgotten on Friday and then feted on Monday!

And I mean it about enjoying the resentment, though I don't at all understand why I do.

I think it's a hedgehog thing.

And I wore my Pooh jumper yesterday!

The buttons gap a little, but it fits. I look really sweet in it, like a pre-school teacher. It's a marvelous disguise. Can't wait until Molly sees it, she'll have a conniption, she loves Pooh so.

Here's a story I forgot to tell. When I was buying the Pooh jumper at the Disney Store I paid with a check--a Bugs Bunny check. And the salesgirl took one look at it and said:

"I'm sorry, I can't accept this. Just kidding!"

And after work I finally went into the darkroom and did the wedding proofs! There are some wonderful pictures, too, thank goodness, which might make up for them having to wait for so long. And I don't think that they're so good because I'm so wonderful, but because Eric and Rosemary really know how to act around a camera. Natural, not stiff, but not hiding from the camera either.

After I blow up some I'll scan them and you can see.

I realized that I never mentioned my birthday present from John. I guess I was giving the impression that I saw John that day and he never mentioned it at all, which isn't true! He got me the book Angela's Ashes, which he read and adored and I've been dying to read it for ages, so it was a great gift. If my Da was still alive, I know I would have gotten it for him for Christmas and quickly read it while I was in L.A.

And then today I got a package from Mom that didn't arrive in time that had a peridot necklace and Shamrock earrings and cow earrings.
All very neat.
