28 April I babysat for Cynthia again last night, both Katie and Molly, to make up for the whole forgetting the birthday thing. Katie, who is almost nine, has been in the throes of a horrid phase for the past year and a half or so--I call it a Lucy phase, like Lucy in Peanuts. (What did they call Lucy? A fussbudget?) Anyway, she was a complete little know-it-all brat and drove all around her bats, but she seemed to abruptly have left this phase directly before I came over, so I was the first to benefit from actually enjoying Katie's company for the first time since 1995.
Remember yesterday when I was talking about my jeans with the giant holes in the back of the thighs? Well, directly after leaving the house last night to go to Cynthia and Francis', they ripped more. How much, you ask? Well, let me put it this way: the waistband is solid, and the cuffs are just completely there--it's the expanse between these two areas that are more problematic, in that it no longer exists. It looks as though I was attacked by a pack of denim-eating wolves. I left the house in a pair of perfectly respectable, if slightly ragged dungarees, and returned home eight hours later looking like Robinson Crusoe. It seems like I am completely obsessed with my jeans, but actually I am rather more obsessed with not completely flashing everyone on the subway...
I dyed my hair on Saturday! Not wildly interesting to y'all, I know, but a great boon to those that have to look at me every day. I hadn't dyed in two months, an eon in the land of those with dyed hair, and it was no longer red, nor in fact was it blonde. It was just kind of hair-coloured hair. But it's beautiful now!
I was telling Cynthia about the "Rich Frosted Popettes" (see yesterday), and she mentioned that she and Francis saw a sign painted on the side of a building that said: "Complete Live Lamb Fabrications" I am now completely obsessed with the thought of Complete Live Lamb Fabrications. What on earth could that mean? Is it food? Is it a toy? It it a car seat cover? Any ideas?
