24 April I am reading the most wonderful book! Now, I realize that I'm way behind the pack on this one, but what the hell. It's called Time and Again by Jack Finney and it was published in 1970. It's about a man who time travels into New York in 1882 and he...well, I don't want to spoil it. It has been in my "to read" pile for about two years, as I have this terrible habit of putting newer books on top of the old and reading them first, so it got extremely buried, but I'm reading it now! I'm so thrilled with it that before I even got to the good part I was on the phone with my mother telling her to go to the library right away and get it. I'm so thrilled with it that I resent every moment away from it, wasting time sleeping or working bathing or whatever, but on the other hand, I dread finishing it, because I'm having the joy of reading it for the first time and I'll never get to have this experience again. In fact, I'm so very thrilled with it that I can't wait until I'm finished writing this and can get back to it. Boy, I sure wish I could type faster!
Here's a funny thing, a journal I enjoy very much, Michele's Home, has decided to start a notify list, and since she doesn't update daily, I thought I'd join. Well, I got a note from her saying that I had not only joined the notify list, I WAS the notify list! And since I have a one person mailing list myself (no longer Bryan, he's back on-line, now it's Jeroen--anyone remember Into the Night with Allen Havey and his Audience of One?) I am very proud to be Michele's one person list! O, c'mon everybody, write her and join!
Judy and I were discussing childhood TV faves, and I mentioned The Banana Split Show, and when she looked at me in confusion (she's the same age as me, so she should know it) I started singing the song to her. Man, I didn't even know that I remembered that song...
Remember when I was talking about Helene Hanff yesterday, and her wonderful books that nobody's ever heard of (they only know 84 Charing Cross Road)? Well, do you know what? Jan went out to the library and got them that very day! I'm feeling the power, baby...
