7 April I'm very nervous. Today is the day that I meet an online friend. He rang me at work on Friday and told me that he was in town going on job interviews and if I wanted to have lunch on Monday. So, I spent all weekend trying to lose weight and height and the giant zit on my chin, but to no avail, he'll have to meet me as me, unfortunately. Yeep!
Yesterday I let the cats out on the roof, which is the true first sign of spring, and I had completely forgotten how filthy it is out there. Two black and white cats went out the window, two black and grey cats came back inside.
Watched the wonderful, the glorious Persuasion on Masterpiece Theatre last night, and I hope with all my heart that many of you did the same. It is without question the best of the Austin adaptations, no matter how much I adored Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. It's darker than the other two, and with a much plainer heroine. Amanda Root as Anne is plain as toast at the beginning and absolutely lovely at the end, and it's all in the acting, not makeup. And the theme of the film is that there is always hope, no matter what.
On Saturday night at 2a on PBS was Bah, Humbug, a reading of A Christmas Carol by James Earl Jones and Martin Sheen. Well, you sure know that spring has sprung when A Christmas Carol is on TV at 2a on PBS is New York City.
Got me Cardigan's Journal Award, I did!
