(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

25 October

Well, here I am on my new server (and a new look for Hallowe'en)! Isn't it faster? They have a T1 line, which helps, but I have all of the images uploaded on the same server, so you don't have to wait for linked images. The move was a bitch, though. The last time I moved house was such a pain that I haven't moved since, and I think the same is true here: It would take ALOT for me to move again,...

I sent e-mail to all of my friends telling them that I had moved my page, but neglected to include the vital words "my page", so I keep getting this confused e-mail back saying "Where did you move to?"

On Monday I sent an Express Mail to my mother. On Tuesday I got a yellow slip in the mail saying that I had gotten an Express Mail and they were going to attempt re-delivery. On Thursday I got a call from my mother saying that she had never received the Express Mail, so I called the Express Mail people. They told me that it had been delivered at 2.50p. I said that I had just spoken to her, and she said that she hadn't gotten it yet. They said, well, here's the local post office number, you can call them: 718...I said, wait a minute, that's MY area code! Why was it delivered to ME? They said that they hadn't the foggiest.

I went home and stopped at the store across the street from me, where they had my package. Turns out it had been returned for insufficient postage, which they had collected from Mr. Lee, whom I repaid...Now, I'm not that bright, so it took me a minute to realize that I had paid the extra postage, but I was holding the package in my hand without $4.25 in stamps to put on it. Sigh...

So, this morning I called the post office and asked them what on earth they were thinking. They said for me to leave the package back at Mr. Lee's store and they would pick it up. I said that I would do so tomorrow. Which means that Mom'll get the package on Monday.

Express Mail from the Post Office: When it absolutely, positively can get there a week late.

Ross Perot called Dole's request that he drop out of the race weird and inconsequential.
Bit of the pot calling the kettle black, I think.
