Well, my show closed last night in a blaze of mediocrity. Well, that's not entirely true, it actually went pretty well. When Nick was thanking me, he said "It wouldn't have been the same without you", and I said "You're damn right it wouldn't!" And that's not ego either; if any other director had just directed that thing straight, it would have been a giant pile of offal.

One last thing about Chicago:

Chicago is the land of the caramel apple. Everywhere you go, they sell caramel apples; grocery stores, drug stores, butcher shops, caramel apples as far as the eye can see!

I love caramel apples.

Well, I have been watching that Four Tops Velveeta Shells and Cheese ad for a while, and I've decided I don't mind it. At first I was thinking it was kind of a hideous defacing of a classic song, but now I think it's pretty cute and has a good sense of the absurd.

Now the Nike ad that used Revolution, that was a hideous defacing of a classic song.

I'm trying to figure out why Comedy Central canceled Mystery Science Theatre 3000, which made fun of bad movies, but is now showing just plain bad movies, without the commentary, morning, noon and night.

What a huge amount of contempt they must have for their viewers.
