12 October So, my Da's out of I.C.U. and is coming home tomorrow. Of course, now they're not coming to New York next week. I was dreading the visit, just because they were going to be staying in my house for two weeks, and now they're not coming because my Da's sick. When it comes right down to it, I'd rather they came to New York and stay at my house...
When I was in Chicago, I spent a whole day with John and his niece and nephew, who are 5 and 7. I terrified them at first, and was terrified of them. I'm very shy around children when I first meet them. However, halfway through lunch, we had calmed down around each other, and we were chattering away. In fact, Ariel spent the whole day walking beside me holding my hand.
The funny thing was that the kids looked like me, and like John, and late in the day, John said to me "You know, I'll bet people think that these are our kids, except that they keep yelling 'Uncle Johhny, Uncle Johnny!' in loud clear tones." I said that everyone probably thought that they were MY kids and he was their stepfather.
I must say, after my first taste of Chicago pizza: In what universe is this stuff pizza?
