(The Mighty Kymm--you'll not see nothing like!)

10 October

So, it's last Wednesday, and I'm in Chicago and I've checked in and I've napped, but I'm still pretty sleep-deprived, so I decided to stay in that night and work on The Book. You see, I had to finish reading and covering the 538 page monster before going to Chicago, but was unable to, so I brought it with me.

On my VACATION!!!

But the point is, I'm reading and listening to the radio for hours and hours, and I keep hearing the same commercial over and over: "How would you like to read a 500 page book in an hour?"

What I wouldn't have given...

On the Thursday, I wandered around Chicago just exploring. I ended up taking a boat trip along the river and Lake Michigan, which was fun, but COLD!
You know why they call Chicago the windy city?

'Cause it's darn windy!

The tour guide was pointing out objects of interest, some of which were more interesting than others. "On your left is the Sheraton International" wasn't too thrilling. One very polite thing he said was in describing the Chicago Sun-Times building, possibly the ugliest building in the entire city as being "built in a style popular in the late 50's".

As opposed to "being in a style that was butt-ugly then and is butt-ugly now".

And then that night I saw Randy Newman's Faust at The Goodman, which was my whole reason for going to Chicago in the first place. And it was great! There was a discussion afterwards, and they said that Randy had been in Chicago until Tuesday, because they opened on Monday, so I was disappointed. Especially because I had wanted to come for the previews, but couldn't due to stinkin' Paris Then!
