28 November Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Last year I had nowhere to go for dinner (poor little Kymm), and because of that I spoke to my parents on the phone in the afternoon, and my father said that he wasn't feeling very well, and casually mentioned the fact that he had fainted in the bathroom. "What?!" my mother yelled, "You never told me that!!" He had a doctor's appointment on Monday, but he did not want to bother him on a holiday. Later, my Da was reading Marlon Brando's biography, and Brando described my Da's exact symptoms, and then said he called an ambulance. When he read that, he told my Mom that he wanted to go to the hospital. When he got there, they discovered that he was bleeding internally, and they said that he would have died that night if he hadn't come in. So, between my not having anywhere to go for Thanksgiving, Mom's nagging, and Marlon Brando, my Da's life was saved, and that is what I am thankful for on this Thanksgiving. Don't forget, NEW PHOTOS on the photo page!
I collect photographs, and I have these two of a man and a woman from the thirties in a double frame that I have named Peter and Harriet, and I decided to bring them into work to have on my desk, and everyone keeps telling me how nice my parents look, and I have to explain that I have no idea who they are. I think I'm definitely on the road to batty old maid-dom. A houseful of cats and pictures of people I don't know.
I saw in People magazine that a sequel to Watership Down has just been published, and I practically started to weep right there on the platform. When Watership Down first was published, I was around nine or ten, and my Da was reading it, and every day, when he drove me home from school, he would tell the bit of the story that he had read the night before. When he finished telling me the story, I read it myself. I have worn out around three copies in my life, and it is number one on my desert island list, and I am so thrilled that there is a sequel, I cannot even tell you. I think I'll get it for my Da for Christmas.
Been getting heavily into other people's on-line journals. Some are fabulous, and draw you in until you become obsessed with their lives, and others are so dull you wonder why on earth they're even bothering to keep a journal at all, let alone a public one. Happily, those are the exception rather than the rule.
