25 August O my darlings, I am so hideously sorry!!!!! I didn't update last night, and I really am ready to put my head in the oven over it, but see if you think I have a good reason. On Friday night (my birthday), I got home at around 2a, went to sleep around 3.30a, and got up Saturday morning at 7a. Yes, a big 3 1/2 hours of sleep for little Kymm. Then I spent all day yesterday at Great Adventure amusement park in New Jersey with John and Willow and Kathy and Nik and David, getting home at 3.30a. So, I just fell into bed. Am I forgiven? It'll never happen again, I swear!!!
The third best ride at Great Adventure was The Great American Scream Machine. We went on that first, and it is, by golly, well named. I usually don't scream on roller coasters, but on this one...well, if I had been told that I had to be silent or the Nazis would find me and take me away, I couldn't have done it.
The second best ride at Great Adventure was FreeFall. I don't know what sadist invented this one, but it's just this metal box open in the front that they strap four people in and they take you up very very far into the air, and then they drop it. Simple, but extremely effective. I screamed on that one, too. Like I was the star of a horror movie. In fact, I don't think I could scream that well without the impetus of falling several stories and thinking I was gonna die.
And the best ride at Great Adventure was Batman: The Ride. Now, Batman is a different sort of roller coaster, because the car hangs below the track and you're sitting on a little seat with your upper body immobilized and your legs swinging free. The queue to get on this ride was two hours, literally, and, in the last ten minutes, waiting to get on, I leaned forward and whispered to my friends: "This had better make me come." And, by golly...
And, just in case anyone was wondering, I do have laryngitis this morning.
