13 August Well, the folks have been in my house for a whole day, and how is it so far? Well, I DO want to kill them, of course, but only marginally more than I do when I'm in L.A. Of course, it's only been twenty-four hours...
Do you know, for the last several weeks my phone has rung every morning between 10 and 10.30a, and, since I never answer the phone (let the voice-mail pick up), I have absolutely no idea who it is, 'cause they never leave a message. I'm not real broken up about it, 'cause anyone who thinks that I would be up at 10a doesn't know me really well.
The fleet's in! When I was in Times Square today with the folks, there were crowds of sailors in dress uniforms as far as the eye could see. I had to bite my tongue to keep from bursting into song:
"New York, New York, a hell of a town
Another thing that annoyed me about St. Patrick's Cathedral was the fact that the only thing that place has going for it is architecture, (as actually attending mass there is similar to attempting same at Grand Central Station), and they have on every column these big old TV sets. I guess it's for when it's very crowded or something, so that everyone can see. But it's awful!
